Meet the Colville Gang. Jim, his daughter Adrienne, granddaughter Amanda, and long time volunteer Alex drove up to Washington and rescued these young ones from going to slaughter on 3/27/18. They had been in a holding facility in Toppinish, Wa for about two months. Their mothers were all purchased by meat buyers and we didn't want these guys to suffer the same fate. They are now safe at Hytyme in our quarantine paddock and will stay there for the next 60 days to make sure they don't have anything that can be passed on to the rest of our herd.
It is hard to tell just how old they are. We believe Rey, the biggest of the bunch, is probably the oldest. Maybe closest to a year. Little Odin is the smallest and probably much younger. We are guessing maybe 6 months just because he still has so much baby fuzz in his tail. The same may go for Gusto and Thor. Lola is probably closer in age to Rey.
They have all you can eat hay, are being fed alfalfa, and hopefully will learn that pellet feed is tasty soon so they can get some extra nutrition. Follow our Facebook page for frequent updates.
