Things are starting to get exciting at Hytyme for the rescue horses. Tori has been helping with training them (and the people!) to get them ready for adoptions. I for one am excited to help Bella, a TWH find a forever home. She is a sweet girl that needs her very own person and a job. She is a lovely mover and will make someone a very cute riding companion. I am confident Tori can get Bella a refresher on her ground manners and some time under saddle, that way she will be at her best this spring.
We also received some donations from our Amazon wishlist yesterday! I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who donated on the behalf of all of us here at Hytyme. The items are greatly appreciated!
Hytyme is preparing to do more this year to help horses. Once the weather starts to improve we will be hosting work parties to repair fences and cut brush, Sunset Horse Walks, horse spa days, and possibly some other fundraising events at the barn. So far the horses are doing well this winter. We lost Tempest, one of our senior horses and long time resident, and Olivia the Shetland mule who adopted Hytyme years ago, but most of our other senior equines are fattened up and sporting thick winter coats. We have some volunteers who will be working to train and ready a couple of the horses for adoption, like Elliott and Dione the twins, and Thelma & Louise the mules.
It was very cold and windy out today, and everybody was extra hungry! Here is Elliott watching as his stall buddy was getting lots of attention. Elliott is still a little shy with people, but he's improving!
